- John DeDakis - John grew up in La Crosse, Wisconsin and earned a BA in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1977. John is currently a senior copy editor for "The Situation Room." John's most recent book is Fast Track. Wolf Blitzer, CNN Anchor, wrote a good review of Fast Track. John speaks about his trips through the Apalachin Trail, how to get your novel published and the business of the book industry. There is a lot more to know about the business behind the book industry such as marketing yourself effectively.
- - Listen to John DeDakis - Book John - Dennis (Denny) Griffin - Dennis speaks about syndicated crime and the crime industry in general. Denny began his career as a private investigator with Pinkerton’s Inc., working mostly undercover assignments. He finished as the Director of Investigations with the New York State Dept. of Health laboratory division. There were stops as a Sr. Child Support Investigator and deputy sheriff in Madison County, New York, in between. In 1996, when he was supposed to be retired, he decided to tell the story of what he learned while investigating the operation of a medical examiner’s office. It was an eye-opening experience for Denny and he felt compelled to share it with others. He eventually produced a fictionalized account called The Morgue. He found to his chagrin that readers didn’t believe anything in the book could actually happen, but they liked the story and his style; rough edges and all. - Laura Allen - The events of September 11th, 2001 led Laura to become an entrepreneur. She started out just helping friends brainstorm to gain employment. They would meet at a local Starbuck's in New York City and she inspired her friends, and later, friends of friends. They began meeting weekly and Laura was working for free for friends and friends of friends for the first year. She grew more confident and began charging $30 an hour. She now gets $175 an hour. She continued to expand and now has a growing and thriving business. Laura Allen was the first hire for Cheetah Mail. She explains that she LOVED that company like it was her own. Laura later decided that her desire was to found her own company. She learned a lot from the founders of Cheetah Mail. Cheetah Mail sold in 2004 for a large sum of money to Experian.
